FAQ - Business / social programme / work experienceThe aim of this programme is to maximise the potential of your visit to China for future career prospects and CV building. Q. Is the business programme academically focused? A. No. It is focused on the practicalities of doing business in China with a large input from the local business community. Q. How is the British Chamber of Commerce involved? A. Periodic seminars will be held at the offices of BCC in downtown Beijing. All students will have the opportunity to become student members of the BCC with access to its networking events. Q. Will I be paid during the optional work experience programme? A. In general, no, because of visa issues, although some companies may pay a local travel and meal allowance. Those students staying in China at the end of the programme to pursue career opportunities, or to teach English will be paid at a salary they are able to negotiate. |
FAQ - Health arrangementsQ. What happens if I get sick or injured?A. All China pathways students must have a comprehensive insurance policy as a condition of acceptance on the course. The medical section of the policy will have an emergency contact number for international assistance. Please make sure you keep a note of it. Q. Are there any facilities at the University? A. There is a clinic on the BLCU campus which China Pathways students can use. Q. Are there any private clinics or hospitals? A. Yes, for more serious conditions there are a number of private clinics and hospitals in Beijing which your insurance policy will allow you to visit. . If you are visiting for less than thirty days you can travel on an ordinary tourist L Visa. Longer stays will require a student visa which can be organised by China Pathways. You will need to fill in an application form and have a passport which is valid for more than six months, and provide a passport sized photograph. Information on visas can be obtained from the Chinese Embassy website www.china-embassy.org.uk Q. How will I organise a flight? A. You can organise your own flight or this can be organised through China Pathways official partner, Commodore Travel, with whom we have negotiated preferential rates. Flight costs will depend on the time of year, but you should budget for around £700.00. Q. What happens when I arrive in Beijing? A. You will be met at the airport by a China Pathways representative who will escort you to your accommodation and organise an orientation programme. |
